The Sun Bear Project  is a remarkable initiative by Find Focus Films and MPCEN, supported by the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) and Multimedia University (MMU) Malaysia. This project is a testament to the power of film in environmental education and conservation, focusing on the often-overlooked sun bear, the smallest bear species in the world, native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia.

The film was created as part of Syed Hasnain Raza’s academic research for his MSc in Multimedia Environmental Education. It delves into the lives of sun bears, their habitats, and the challenges they face due to deforestation and illegal wildlife trade. Through compelling visuals and storytelling, the film raises awareness about the critical need for conservation efforts to protect these vulnerable creatures.

In 2019, *The Sun Bear Project* received significant recognition, being officially selected for the prestigious Wildlife Conservation Film Festival (WCFF) in Hollywood, California, and the SOFA Film Festival. These selections underscored the film’s impact and importance in the global conversation about wildlife conservation.

The project exemplifies the synergy between academic research and practical conservation efforts, demonstrating how multimedia can be a powerful tool for environmental education. Through this film, Find Focus Films and MPCEN have highlighted the plight of the sun bear and the urgent need to protect this species, contributing to a broader understanding of biodiversity and conservation.
