Syed Hasnain Raza is a seasoned environmental filmmaker, photographer, and journalist with over a decade of experience in visual storytelling. His journey began in 2009 when he was pursuing a Master’s in Fine Arts with a focus on Video and Photography. By 2010, he had already started his professional career, quickly gaining recognition for his work. His first major project was in 2011 with WWF-Pakistan, where he produced a series of videos for World Wetlands Day, including a music video that highlighted the importance of wetland conservation.
In 2013, Raza’s fascination with macro photography ignited his passion for nature-related films and media. This passion led him to work on the natural history documentary “Margalla Urban Wilderness” in 2014, which further solidified his commitment to environmental issues. Recognizing the power of film to raise awareness about nature and environmental conservation, he founded Find Focus Films in 2015. His company is dedicated to producing films that highlight environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices.
Raza’s dedication to environmental advocacy extends beyond filmmaking. He has pursued numerous certifications in climate change, wildlife conservation, and ecosystem restoration from esteemed organizations like NatGeo, IUCN, and Ecosystems Restoration Camps. In 2022, he collaborated with the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) on a series of environmental journalism stories focusing on Pakistan’s smog crisis, offering critical insights and potential solutions.
In addition to his film and photography work, Raza has contributed to various digital media outlets, educating audiences on environmental sustainability. His expertise has been sought after by international organizations such as WWF, NatGeo Educators, Smithsonian, Terramater Studios, Walkabout Films, and BSBCC.
Raza is also the founder of the Media Project on Conservation, Environment, and Nature (MPCEN), a community action-based organization that uses multimedia and films to tackle environmental issues. Since its inception in 2018, MPCEN has been actively involved in producing impactful environmental films across South East Asia.
With fellowships from ISCM, GNMI Sabz Journalism, and MMFD Media Entrepreneur, and a recent collaboration on the film “Dethroned” with Terramatter Studios and Four Motion Films, Syed Hasnain Raza continues to be a driving force in the world of environmental media, striving to make a lasting impact through his work.
