Her Message for Elections
As president, I will bring two decades of diverse conservation experience both from the public and private sectors. And I have come to understand the challenges facing the Union through my 20-year engagement with the IUCN as a member, as a framework donor, and a strong supporter of the SSC. And I will endeavor to bring a fresh and energetic perspective to address those challenges.
“I’d like to thank retiring President Zhang Xinsheng and all those whose time on IUCN Council ends today. The Council has led IUCN through a, particularly challenging time, as the Union navigated the global pandemic. We are very grateful for their leadership,” said Enrique Lahmann, Global Director, IUCN Union Development Group. “Regional representation and scientific expertise are core to IUCN. The Union’s democratic process, bringing together over 1,400 states, Indigenous Peoples’ Organisations, and civil society Members, give incoming President Razan Al Mubarak and the Council she leads a strong mandate.”
What Impact Will it have with Razan Al Mubark as Iucn President:
The fact that Razan belongs to the Arab world, though she has been in many parts of the world and has an educational background from the UK and The USA. It will impact the Arab world in a good way. Razan on the top with her expertise and family background can influence the Arab leaders for replacing oil with Renewable and NBS (Nature-Based Solutions).
This is will right time to shift from oil exploration and Deeps sea oil drilling. Razan can influence that and help that change to renewable options.
As a women leader and one from a young leader, she would be ideal for women across the world. It will have an impact in an underdeveloped world where women will have a young role model in Environmental Protection and Conservation of Nature. The same could be applied to women from the Muslim world with many African, Asian & Arab Muslim countries facing a Climate Crisis. Razan will be a role model for Muslim women to empower themselves and play their role in the conservation of nature.
High Times Ahead
The time ahead is going to be crucial for the Conservation of Nature and stop Biodiversity loss through the right decision. As we are already going through the 6th Mass Extinction and we need the right people making the right decisions we can stop the loss of Biodiversity.
